For your final assignment, I’d like you to tell me a bit about your year! I’d like you to answer these questions in a letter!

What did you like most about your Grade 8 year? Why?

What are you MOST excited about for your Grade 9 year at Greenall? Why?

What are you MOST nervous about for your Grade 9 year at Greenall? Why?

What do you wish we would have learned in Tech class that we didn’t do? Why?

What will be your favorite memory of your Grade 8 year?

What words of advice do you have for the Grade 7′s coming up to Grade 8?

Once you’re finished, print the letter off to the Library printer and hand it in to Mr. Popoff. You can then have some free time for educational games or some end of the year typing practice!

Typing Tests

Try your hand at a Typing Test! You can choose which story you’d like to type (I like Wizard of Oz!) and you can choose how long you’d like the test to last. One minute or two minutes is fine. There are also a few fun typing games to try.

The Excel Assignment

- Create a new spreadsheet!

- You’re going to be creating a Golf Score Card!

- You’ll need 4 players and 9 holes. Create your labels for the top of the score card and then create your labels for the rows (players) and the columns (holes)

- Come up with some fictitious scores for your players! Remember that most golf scores are not higher than seven.

- You will need formulas to figure out the sum for each player (each ROW) and the total sum for the hole for the team (column).

- We’ll also figure out the the average number of strokes it took each player. (Figure out the average for each ROW) and the average number of strokes it took your team on each hole (the average for each HOLE)

- Finally, we’re going to assign a money amount for each stroke that the player took. We’ll imagine each stroke cost the player $2.30. You’ll need to set-up a cell below your score card area that contains “2.30″. Then, add a cell for each ROW that contains a formula that multiplies the TOTAL SCORE for the ROW by the cell that contains the “2.30″. You’ll need to use the “$” when you refer to the cell that contains the 2.30 so that Excel doesn’t try to look at a different cell. For example, “$C$6″ – This will refer to the cell C6 and won’t change if you cut and paste it or move it. Don’t forget to format the cells that refer to money as “Currancy” cells so that Excel throws a dollar sign in there!

What is this?? – Terminology Project

In pairs, prepare an instructional sheet or PowerPoint presentation for others to use which describes terminology related to computers.

STEP ONE

You must answer the first question and choose 19 others. You will have a total of TWENTY entries. Define and/or describe the following computer terms:

STEP TWO

After defining or describing, you should come up with a creative and interesting way to organize the information on the computer. Pictures, diagrams, and examples should be used whenever applicable. Imagine people who are very unfamiliar with computers will use your instructional booklet.

STEP THREE

Include an attractive title page and a reference page. List WHERE you found your information on the Reference Page or directly following the entry. Remember to search and choose references that are accurate and verifiable (meaning you can find the information elsewhere and that the website appears to be made by a reputable source!).

Things to Keep in Mind

Keep rough notes (you can do this right on the computer if you wish). You need a reference for each site that you quote! You may use the Internet for this project. The work should be split evenly! Please initial the posts that you are responisble for! - DP (like that!)

DUE DATE

October 10^th at the END of class. You will have FOUR classes to complete this in.
